Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE)
The Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE) aims to enhance the quality of higher education information by facilitating data sharing among AAU institutions. It manages both public and confidential data with a strong commitment to mutual confidentiality. Members convene annually to discuss emerging developments and priorities. For more information, visit the AAUDE website.
The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) has been administered annually at selected AAUDE institutions each spring since 2000. Participation is voluntary, and data sharing is coordinated by the University of Colorado Boulder. AAUDE-NSSE participation includes the use of optional AAUDE questions and the sharing of response-level data, though not all participants engage in both.
Common Data Set (CDS)
The Common Data Set (CDS) is a collaborative initiative among higher education institutions and publishers to improve the quality and consistency of data reported about colleges and universities. It offers a standardized format for key information, including enrollment, admissions, financial aid, academic offerings, and student demographics. By using the CDS, institutions can provide comparable data to prospective students, families, and researchers, aiding in the evaluation and comparison of institutions. The data is typically published annually and is used in college guides and rankings. For more information, visit the Common Data Set website.
